Understanding Your Screen Resolution

This tool instantly detects your monitor's current display settings. The big blue numbers above represent your Screen Resolution (Width x Height in pixels). Knowing this number is critical for gaming performance, graphic design, and troubleshooting display issues.

What do the other numbers mean?

  • Pixel Ratio (DPR): This measures pixel density. If you see "2.0x" or higher, you are likely using a Retina Display (Mac) or a high-end smartphone. These screens pack more pixels into the same physical space for sharper text.
  • Color Depth: Most modern screens are 24-bit (True Color). If you are a professional photographer or editor using a 10-bit HDR monitor, you might see "30-bit" here.
  • Viewport: This is the actual "usable" area inside your browser window. It is almost always smaller than your full screen resolution because of scrollbars, toolbars, and browser borders.
⚡ IS YOUR MONITOR FAST ENOUGH?

Having a high resolution (4K) is great for visuals, but it can kill your speed in competitive games. Make sure your full setup is balanced:

Does Resolution affect FPS in Gaming?

Yes, significantly. The higher your resolution, the harder your graphics card (GPU) has to work.

  • 1080p (1920x1080): The standard for competitive gaming (CS2, Valorant). Offers the highest FPS.
  • 1440p (2K): The sweet spot. Good balance between sharp visuals and performance.
  • 2160p (4K): Extremely demanding. Requires a top-tier GPU to maintain 60 FPS, often introducing input lag.

If you are experiencing lag or stuttering in games, try lowering your game resolution to match a standard format like 1920x1080.
